LG HelloVision said on the 16th it will support customized AI education.
On the day, LG HelloVision signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a community-focused "AI shared-growth education" with the Community Media Foundation Gyeonggi Community Media Center. Based on the agreement, the two sides aim to provide customized AI education programs so that vulnerable groups and small business owners in the region are not left behind in the rapidly changing AI environment, and to build a community-based digital shared-growth model.
The signing ceremony was held on the 12th at the Gyeonggi Community Media Center in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, with key officials including Executive Director Lim Sung-won of LG HelloVision and Director Seong Kyung-hoon of the Gyeonggi Community Media Center in attendance. The two sides agreed to join forces on: △ pilot operations of region-specific AI education programs △ strengthening AI utilization capabilities for the digitally vulnerable △ community contribution activities based on local infrastructure.
In Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, the "Neighborhood small business owners AI digital class" was held on the 3rd. The training focused on hands-on practice, in which small business owners used AI to produce promotional short-form videos themselves and applied them to actual store promotions. Through this, small business owners were able to build the skills to promote their stores directly with AI without complex editing techniques.
In Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, in partnership with the Pearl S. Buck Foundation Korea, the "Marriage-immigrant women AI digital class" was held to help multicultural families adapt to Korean society, with training conducted on the 10th. A customized program was offered, ranging from Korean-language learning using AI chatbots to AI-based document writing and image creation practice, and training to prevent digital crimes such as voice phishing was also conducted in parallel.
Seong Kyung-hoon, director of the Gyeonggi Community Media Center, said, "This agreement will provide an opportunity for local residents to use AI technology as a tool to continue their economic activities and social communication more actively," adding, "We will create a sustainable digital learning space where anyone can benefit from technology."
Lim Sung-won, executive director at the LG HelloVision PR and External Relations Center, said, "We want to offer practical help so that neighborhood small business owners and neighbors can find vitality in their lives by using AI," adding, "Through public-private cooperation, we plan to steadily continue digital shared-growth activities tailored to local characteristics."
Meanwhile, based on the results of the March pilot project, the two sides plan to secure continuity by proceeding with the second round of training in May. LG HelloVision plans to gradually expand the education programs and target areas across Gyeonggi, in line with the government's digital inclusion policy.
