Naver said on the 13th that it will roll out a Naver Map update that lets users check, in real time, a range of transit safety information such as service suspensions and skip-stop operations to provide a more convenient and safer public transit navigation service.
With this update, users can check incident alerts that affect public transit travel, such as accidents and delays. From the navigation and map screens, users can leverage transit safety information that is reflected in real time to grasp changing service operations while on the move.
For example, users can immediately check △subway stations △bus stops △train stations where an incident has occurred to plan an efficient and safe trip. The scope of these incident alerts will be expanded to other modes of transportation going forward.
Separately, Naver Map rolled out an update in 2024 to deliver incident alerts within users' daily activity areas in more detail and to further strengthen disaster information guidance when using navigation, boosting the effectiveness of safety information once. The latest update is an extension of this enhancement of user mobility support services and is expected to further improve both convenience and safety in travel by providing information closely tied to users' daily lives.
Jeong Kyung-hwa, planning lead for Naver Map, said, "As the map service with the largest user base in Korea, with about 30 million monthly active users (MAU), Naver Map aims to ensure and support users' safe and efficient travel," adding, "Naver Map will continue to enhance its services to support a convenient and precise mobility experience."
