Kakao Mobility said on the 13th that it will leap forward as a future mobility corporations based on physical artificial intelligence (AI).
Ryu Geung-seon, head of Kakao Mobility, presented this vision in a letter sent to all employees on the 12th. Ryu said, "We will be reborn as a technology company leading the era of physical AI that takes responsibility for every movement in daily life," and added, "We will secure technological sovereignty, compete on equal footing with global players, and lead the future mobility market."
Ryu said Kakao Mobility will push a physical AI strategy based on the data and technology infrastructure accumulated through the digital transformation (DX) of the mobility industry as a whole.
In particular, he cited as Kakao Mobility's unique strengths the "data asset and quality system" that has refined vast movement information to a level learnable by AI, the "map and road network data" that reflects daily changes on real roads, the "operation standardization capability" that has codified complex operating variables from dispatch to settlement, and the "hubs and operating infrastructure" that will determine future service economics and scalability.
Ryu said, "Physical AI technology will create a virtuous cycle that, combined with existing services, raises operational efficiency and innovates service quality," adding, "We will build a powerful mobility ecosystem in which technology and services mesh organically."
He also announced plans to internalize core physical AI technologies and build technological competitiveness that spans from software to hardware control. He said, "While leaving room for collaboration, we will not rely solely on external parties for core capabilities and leadership, and we will secure unmatched technological sovereignty optimized for our environment."
To that end, the company plans to strengthen an execution-focused technology promotion system that proceeds through "validation–operation–expansion" so that physical AI technologies can be verified and scaled in real service environments. It also plans to revamp its technology architecture and medium- to long-term roadmap to ensure an organic linkage between physical AI and the platform.
