Naver Cloud said on the 13th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Konan Technology, a corporations specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) software, for cooperation on "defense and manufacturing-specialized large language models (LLMs) and physical AI," and will work to expand the ecosystem for Generative AI to that end.
The partnership was arranged to design AI models optimized for defense and manufacturing domains, where security and expertise are essential, and to flesh out execution plans for the era of physical AI that drives intelligence on industrial sites. The two sides plan to lead the AI transition of national key industries by combining Naver Cloud's "full-stack AI" capabilities with Konan Technology's "agentic AI innovation" strategy.
The two sides agreed to detail technological cooperation in core AI fields. First, they will jointly develop data and models specialized for defense and manufacturing domains, and further implement on-site intelligence solutions that combine LLMs and physical AI technologies to support practical industrial digital transformation.
Kim Yu-won, head of Naver Cloud, said, "Through close cooperation with Konan Technology, we will create a new AI cooperation model that combines LLMs and physical AI technologies tailored to defense and the manufacturing industry," adding, "Based on Naver Cloud's reliable cloud infrastructure and AI technologies, we will expand an AI ecosystem that can be practically used on industrial sites."
Kim Young-seom, head of Konan Technology, said, "We have been striving not only to expand the use of Generative AI on industrial sites, but also to find practical solutions to secure 'AI sovereignty' for national strategic industries with homegrown technologies," adding, "We are very pleased that this goal aligns with Naver Cloud, and we will present the optimal plan for industry intelligence based on 'physical AI' by rallying the capabilities of domestic AI technologies."
