SK Broadband said on the 10th that it won a main award in the product design institutional sector at Germany's iF Design Award 2026, one of the world's three major design awards, for "Giga Wi-Fi 7" and "AI 5 set-top box."
"Giga Wi-Fi 7" and "AI 5 set-top box" followed last year's Good Design Award in Japan with another win this year at the iF Design Award. The company said it is significant that its identity as an "AI media corporations," pursued through a PI (Product Identity) renewal, has been recognized on the global stage.
For the winning entries, SK Broadband adopted a design concept called "Living Fit System," based on minimalism. Moving away from the cold, technology-centric image of communications equipment, it reinterpreted the products as "home objets" that blend naturally into everyday spaces such as living rooms and bedrooms by adding restrained colors and a matte finish.
"Giga Wi-Fi 7" fixes its antennas at angles optimized for Wi-Fi signals and embeds them in a simple square plate. The basic L-shaped structure is designed so it can be easily attached to the back of a wall-mounted TV. In addition, a vent perfected through repeated testing is engineered to reduce heat generation using only airflow.
The "AI 5 set-top box" applies a minimalist design in matte black that strips away unnecessary elements. It boldly hides the buttons and logo on the top to reduce the mechanical impression typical of electronics and achieves a restrained form that blends naturally into a space.
To organize cables that are easily exposed when using a set-top box, it adopts a structure that trims part of the back and covers it with the top plate, allowing customers to use the set-top box in a neat environment where cables are not visible.
With this award as a springboard, SK Broadband plans to concretely realize its brand strategy as an "AI media corporations" and continuously present customer experiences that harmonize technology and design.
