Samsung Electronics kept the No. 1 spot in the global TV market in 2025, extending its lead for the 20th straight year.
According to data released by global market researcher Omdia on the 23rd, Samsung Electronics captured a 29.1% revenue share in the global TV market last year. With this, Samsung Electronics has held the No. 1 position in the global TV market for 20 consecutive years since 2006.
Its strength in the premium segment stood out. In the TV market priced at $2,500 and above, Samsung Electronics, led by Neo QLED, OLED and lifestyle TVs, recorded a 54.3% revenue share. It also maintained the lead in the $1,500-and-above market with a 52.2% share.
Samsung Electronics first rose to No. 1 in the global TV market in 2006 with the launch of the "Bordeaux TV." At the time, Bordeaux TV was evaluated as a model that sought differentiation from existing products by adopting a lower speaker layout, a curved design and red accents.
Since then, Samsung Electronics has expanded its product lines in step with major technological changes. In 2009, it introduced LED TVs to respond to the market's generational shift, and in 2011, it launched smart TVs to broaden the use of TVs. It also addressed interior-demand trends by unveiling lifestyle TVs such as "The Serif" in 2015 and "The Frame" in 2017.
After picture-quality competition intensified, it successively introduced premium products such as QLED TVs, 8K TVs and Micro LED. More recently, it has also expanded TV lineups with enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) features. Following the unveiling of AI TVs in 2024, Samsung Electronics said it enhanced user-personalized features in 2025 by advancing the "Vision AI Companion (VAC)" function.
This year, it plans to broaden its premium lineup further. Samsung Electronics will newly expand Micro RGB (red, green, blue) TVs and strengthen the competitiveness of its premium lineup, including OLED and Neo QLED. It also plans to widen its market response by expanding mainstream lineups such as mini LED.
Yong Seok-woo, head of the Visual Display Division at Samsung Electronics, said, "Being No. 1 in the global TV market for 20 straight years is thanks to consumers' trust," adding, "We will continue our market competitiveness through a variety of products and services."
