Webtoon Entertainment, the U.S. headquarters of Naver Webtoon, said on the 5th (local time) that it will appoint Kim Yong-su, chief strategy officer (CSO) and head of global webtoon business, as an inside director on the board and as president.
Since joining the company at the end of 2022, President Kim Yong-su has played a pivotal role in securing the company's financial soundness and its successful initial public offering (IPO). After taking charge of the global webtoon business, including the United States, Kim led sweeping innovations from organizational culture to product overhauls, driving growth in the U.S. business. In particular, Kim spearheaded collaboration with The Walt Disney Company last year.
A company official said, "President Kim will oversee companywide operations going forward, take responsibility for global operations and execution, and lead the acceleration of growth through innovation and experimentation."
Kim Jun-ku, CEO of Webtoon Entertainment, plans to focus more on the company's fundamentals and lay the foundation for long-term growth while presenting future direction. Alongside this, the company will provide full support so that President Kim Yong-su can demonstrate bold execution in the field.
CEO Kim Jun-ku said, "Through this leadership reorganization, we will uphold the company's long-term vision and, at the same time, deliver visible results more quickly through rapid execution and experimentation."
