Seagate said on the 4th it unveiled its next-generation platform "Mozaic 4+," which can be configured into high-capacity hard disk drives (HDDs) of up to 44TB.
Seagate previously unveiled "Mozaic 3+," a heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) platform developed for high-capacity HDDs, in Jan. 2024. By attaching a laser to the head, the component that reads and writes data inside an HDD, it increased data storage density compared with previous methods.
Seagate said the new platform supports up to 44 terabytes (TB) and has obtained certification from two cloud providers and entered mass production.
Dave Mosley, Seagate chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), said, "Data storage solutions, the foundation of modern data center infrastructure, are essential in an AI-centered world to manage the exponentially increasing volume of data and maximize investment revenue," adding, "Seagate's Mozaic products deliver the scale, performance and efficiency customers need to fully harness the potential of data."
