#Office worker A, who has a dinner plan with his wife today. During a sudden business trip, while on a call with his wife, the words "I suddenly have to go on a business trip to Busan today" are exchanged. Even before hanging up, LG Uplus AI agent ixi-O understands the call context and adjusts the previously booked restaurant visit schedule. A Humanoid Robot standing in one corner of the living room takes out a suitcase and organizes clothing. As AI that understands the call and the robot are linked, daily life becomes more convenient.
LG Uplus said on the 4th that at MWC26, the world's largest mobile communications exhibition held in Barcelona, Spain, it unveiled how ixi-O is leaping forward as "ambient AI" centered on voice that brings together a variety of devices and spaces. It is a future vision to go beyond smartphones and consolidate wearables, smart glasses, vehicles, home Internet of Things (IoT) appliances, and Humanoid Robots to transform the communications infrastructure into an AI execution platform.
In particular, LG Uplus presented a future roadmap at MWC where ixi-O is combined with physical AI to ensure everyday convenience for customers. Until now, LG Uplus has advanced services that combine "safety" and "convenience" through ixi-O, its AI agent, including call context understanding, voice phishing detection, and real-time information search. Future ixi-O will operate through processes such as △voice input △emotion/context recognition △risk/need assessment △action proposals and execution △result reports, showing not only simple command execution but also proactively acting by understanding the context within the call.
The future in which robots, the representative form of physical AI, are combined with ixi-O was introduced through videos and demonstrations. The robot used is a Humanoid Robot from the Korean company AeiROBOT. For example, when a sudden business trip schedule is shared during a family call, ixi-O analyzes the call content, automatically adjusts existing schedules, and determines necessary preparations by reflecting the weather in the travel area. A series of steps, including pickup of dry-cleaned clothing, suitcase packing, and related notifications, proceed automatically in conjunction with the Humanoid Robot. In addition, if it detects emotional changes by analyzing the tone of voice and conversation patterns of an elderly family member, it suggests contacting the family and shows features that link music, photos, and daily living support.
The future roadmap for ixi-O aligns with the direction presented by Hong Bum-Shik, president of LG Uplus, in his MWC keynote. Earlier, Hong said, "Voice is the most human and fundamental means of connection," and "the AI call agent will evolve to a stage where it understands the context of conversations and acts on its own." Going forward, LG Uplus plans to build an AI ecosystem in cooperation with various global telecom operators and partners and focus on advancing the AI agent ixi-O.
Choi Yun-ho, head of AI Business Group (executive director) at LG Uplus, said, "Through this MWC, we were able to showcase to visitors around the world a future vision in which communications-based voice AI combines with physical AI to act in the real world," and added, "We will advance ixi-O so that physical AI can be introduced to real customer touchpoints and seek ways to gradually expand services."
