Nexon said on the 3rd that it will team up with Lotte World to hold the spring season festival "MapleStory in Lotte World" using the "MapleStory" intellectual property (IP) at Lotte World Adventure in Jamsil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, starting on the 14th.
The event will run for about three months from Mar. 14 to Jun. 14 across all indoor and outdoor areas of Lotte World Adventure. Ahead of the official opening of "Maple Island" in April, the collaboration will showcase content across Lotte World Adventure using the "MapleStory" IP. With the concept that the in-game world unfolds throughout the park after the boss monster "Pink Bean" disappears through a suspicious portal, visitors can take part in space-specific missions and hands-on programs.
An indoor "hero recruitment zone" will let visitors call up their own "MapleStory" character via QR code or create a new character. There will also be a "Find the Missing Pink Bean!" photo zone. Outdoors on Magic Island, in-game regions such as "Henesys" and "Arcana" will be recreated, and at night, a seasonal castle mapping show will project the Magic Castle in a "MapleStory" theme. Inside the Magic Castle, there will be experience spaces including retro games and a photo zone. Starting in April, "MapleStory" characters and dancers will join the parade, and a photo time will let visitors take pictures with popular characters.
Limited-time collaboration merchandise and food and beverages will be unveiled in stages. Alongside collaboration items such as headbands, plush toys, and keyrings, the park will release a "Orange Mushroom cheese bread," "Slime cream mochi," and drinks modeled after in-game items: "Red Potion" and "Blue Potion." A package consisting of an all-inclusive pass and a buff LED magnet will be sold on Lotte World's official application (app) and website.
Meanwhile, in April, Nexon plans to officially open "Maple Island," which applies the "MapleStory" IP to a space of about 600 pyeong within the outdoor "Magic Island" area of Lotte World Adventure. It will feature three new attractions including a family roller coaster, a gift shop, food and beverage outlets, and photo zones, with details to be announced later.
