Samsung Electronics said on the 1st it will convert its domestic and overseas production plants into "AI Driven Factory" by 2030. An AI Driven Factory is a plant that actively applies AI across all manufacturing processes.
Samsung Electronics plans to introduce simulation based on Digital Twin across all processes from materials receipt to production and shipment, and to innovate quality and productivity across its global production hubs by strengthening data-driven analysis and pre-verification through quality, production, and logistics AI agents.
It also plans to expand AI adoption to environmental and safety fields to detect potential risk factors at production sites in advance and prevent accidents, thereby raising safety levels on the manufacturing floor.
Samsung Electronics will apply "agentic AI," introduced in Galaxy S26, to manufacturing innovation, drawing on AI experience and technology accumulated in its mobile business. "Agentic AI" refers to AI that sets its own plans and executes them to achieve goals.
Samsung Electronics plans to use AI agents to make production, equipment, repair, and logistics more intelligent, strengthening the foundation for on-site autonomy.
To move beyond automation to autonomy, Samsung Electronics is also gradually introducing humanoid manufacturing robots across all manufacturing processes.
Going forward, Samsung Electronics will combine AI with △operating bots that manage production lines and equipment, △logistics bots that handle material transport, and △assembly bots that carry out assembly processes to realize an optimized manufacturing site.
In particular, for infrastructure facilities where human work is difficult due to high heat or high noise, it will deploy environment and safety bots based on Digital Twin to strengthen work safety and systematically reduce on-site risks.
Vice President Lee Young-su, head of the Manufacturing Technology Research Institute at Samsung Electronics, said, "The future of manufacturing innovation goes beyond simple automation; the key is building autonomous manufacturing sites where AI understands the field and executes optimal decisions on its own," adding, "We will reemerge as the center of global manufacturing innovation combined with AI."
Meanwhile, at MWC26, the world's largest mobile communications industry exhibition in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung Electronics will unveil its strategy for applying industrial AI and present a vision for manufacturing innovation based on Digital Twin.
In addition, at SMBS (Samsung Mobile Business Summit) held during MWC26, it plans to announce a "strategy to strengthen governance as AI autonomy expands," in step with the growing use of agentic AI across various industries, including manufacturing sites.
Samsung Electronics plans to drive the spread of industrial AI that customers and partners can trust by internalizing safeguards from the design stage, as autonomy—where AI understands the field and executes optimal decisions on its own—becomes core with the expanding scope of industrial AI, alongside technological innovation.
Marking its 10th anniversary this year, SMBS is a private event for major B2B customers and partners to share Samsung Electronics' B2B strategy and latest technology direction and to explore collaboration and business opportunities in industrial settings.
