Spotify said on the 25th that it is launching the Premium Student plan for college students and running a three-month free trial promotion through Mar. 30.
The Premium Student plan costs 6,000 won per month (VAT not included) and offers key premium features such as ad-free listening, enhanced audio quality and downloads. That is about a 45% discount compared with the Premium Individual plan.
Users can select the plan from their Spotify account and verify that they are students aged 18 or older enrolled at an approved higher education institution through the enrollment verification service SheerID. New subscribers who register from Feb. 24 to Mar. 30 can receive a three-month free trial.
Spotify provides premium users with an ad-free streaming environment and a download feature for offline listening. It also supports music-based social experiences through features such as "Jam," which lets friends edit playlists in real time and listen together.
Meanwhile, in 2024 Spotify launched the free music streaming service Spotify Free in Korea. It is expanding options for users in Korea by introducing the Premium Basic plan, which offers key benefits excluding downloads, through Naver Plus Membership.
