NCSOFT is changing its corporate name for the first time since its founding in 1997.
According to the game industry on the 24th, NCSOFT the previous day disclosed a notice convening a shareholders meeting that includes an agenda item to change its corporate name to "NC."
NCSOFT was founded in 1997 by Chief Executive Kim Taek-jin with the meaning of "Next Company." This name change is seen as a move considering brand consistency with the public utilities foundation NC Cultural Foundation, the subsidiaries NC AI, NC QA, and NC IDS, and the overseas entities NC America, NC West, and NC Japan. NCSOFT has used the name "NC" in its company abbreviation and logo.
NCSOFT's shareholders meeting will be held on the 26th of next month at its headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi.
At the meeting, items including approval of a cash dividend of 1,150 won per share, and amendments to the articles of incorporation reflecting the name change and revisions to the Commercial Act are scheduled to be discussed.
In addition, an agenda to reappoint outside directors Choi Jae-chun, an honorary professor at Ewha Womans University, and Lee Eun-hwa, head of RGA Korea, and to newly appoint Oh Seung-hoon, chief executive of Insight Group, has also been submitted.
