Samsung Electronics is understood to have finalized the domestic factory price of the top model (Ultra 1TB) in the flagship smartphone "Galaxy S26" series, which will be unveiled on the 26th, at the 2.5 million won range. With memory prices such as mobile DRAM and NAND flash soaring, the interpretation is that a hike of around 400,000 won over the previous model was unavoidable.
According to a compilation of ChosunBiz reporting on the 23rd, the factory price of the "Galaxy S26 Ultra" 1-terabyte (TB) model has been set at 2,545,400 won. That is up 418,000 won from the previous Galaxy S25 Ultra 1TB (2,127,400 won). The increase rate is about 20%.
By capacity, the increase is steeper as storage grows. The Galaxy S26 Ultra 512GB model is priced at 2,050,900 won, up 11.3% from the previous model (1,841,900 won). The 256GB model is 1,797,000 won, a 5.8% increase from the previous model (1,698,400 won). An electronics industry official said, "The Ultra lineup has a high share of high-capacity storage, and as memory prices have surged recently, the cost burden for higher capacities like 1TB has been reflected more significantly."
However, for the Galaxy S26 Ultra 512GB model (2,050,900 won), the price could change up until just before the product unveiling, according to reports. The industry notes, "Even a 1,000-won adjustment can change the ending digit of the price, so it is hard to rule out a slight last-minute revision." Last year as well, Samsung Electronics decided to raise prices for some models ahead of the "Galaxy S25" Unpacked (launch) event, then froze factory prices across all models considering consumer burden.
An electronics industry official said, "During the Galaxy S25 pre-order period last year, the Galaxy S25 Ultra accounted for 52% of total sales, underscoring that the Ultra is the core model of the Galaxy S series," adding, "If the Ultra 512GB model tops 2 million won and the 1TB model easily exceeds 2.5 million won, a drop in sales will be unavoidable."
Samsung Electronics will hold "Galaxy Unpacked 2026" in San Francisco, California, at 3 a.m. on the 26th (Korea time) to unveil the Galaxy S26 series. Domestic preorders run from Feb. 27 to March 5, with the official launch on March 11. Factory prices will be announced that day.
