Samsung Electronics said on the 22nd that it will add "Perplexity" as the AI agent for its next flagship smartphone.
Users can call up the Perplexity AI agent by pressing the device's side button or with voice commands such as "Hey Plex."
Perplexity is integrated with Samsung Electronics' Bixby, allowing users to easily complete tasks with voice commands without launching apps like Samsung Notes, Gallery, and Reminder. Samsung Galaxy devices already come with Google's AI agent, "Gemini."
This diversification of AI agents is a choice to offer users more AI agent options as demand grows for personalized AI experiences. According to Samsung Electronics' own survey, about eight out of 10 AI users use two or more AI agents on mobile devices.
Choi Won-joon, head of development at Samsung Electronics' MX Division and chief operating officer (COO and president), said, "Samsung Electronics has expanded AI experiences on Galaxy devices and grown the AI ecosystem based on open collaboration," adding, "This not only broadens users' choices but also leads the popularization of AI experiences by integrating agents into the platform so users can easily use them, delivering easier and more convenient personalized mobile experiences."
