Nexon said on the 20th that it created the position of executive chairman through a board resolution and appointed Patrick Söderlund, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Embark Studios, the developer of "ARC Raiders," as the first chairman, with the appointment taking effect immediately.
The newly created chairman role oversees Nexon's long-term strategy, creative direction, and the overall global game development framework. Chairman Patrick Söderlund will work closely with CEO Lee Junghun to lead the company's mid- to long-term growth strategy, while Lee will carry out the strategic direction set by the chairman.
Chairman Patrick Söderlund has worked in the game industry for more than 20 years. Before founding Embark Studios, he served as executive vice president (EVP) and head of Worldwide Studios at Electronic Arts Inc. Prior to that, he was CEO of Digital Illusions CE (DICE), leading development of major franchises such as "Battlefield" and "Mirror's Edge."
Chairman Patrick Söderlund will continue to serve as CEO of Embark Studios.
