Dell Technologies said on the 19th that it will deepen its collaboration with the McLaren Racing team and broadly leverage Dell's advanced AI infrastructure and PC portfolio to strengthen McLaren's F1 performance. Formula 1 is an extreme sport where the outcome is decided in a split second, requiring an organic combination of team capability, precise engineering, and powerful technology.
Dell is McLaren's official technology partner. Working with Dell, McLaren uses AI-based solutions across the entire process, from car design and manufacturing to race operations, and is advancing data-driven decision-making.
The collaboration between Dell and McLaren, which began in 2018, has expanded from design and engineering environments to trackside operations and real-time strategy building. McLaren won back-to-back Formula 1 Constructors' Championships in 2024 and 2025 and achieved successful results in the 2025 Drivers' Championship. Dell Technologies' solutions improved McLaren's equipment during the season and enhanced how the team collaborates.
McLaren uses the Dell AI Factory—comprising Dell PowerEdge servers and high-performance computing (HPC) solutions—to process about 1.5 terabytes of data every race weekend. By enabling rapid simulations and a Digital Twin, it secures precise insights across strategy development, from detecting minute changes in the hydraulic system to responding to real-time track conditions, according to Dell.
To reliably handle massive data, McLaren uses storage solutions and services such as Dell PowerStore and Dell PowerScale. As needed, it flexibly scales infrastructure and stably performs large-scale data modeling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) workloads, the company said. A Dell representative said, "Through the flexibility and agility essential to HPC environments, McLaren has been able to manage resources efficiently, speed up simulations and analyses, and improve overall race performance."
Dell PCs play a critical role across operations for the McLaren Mastercard F1 team. At the track and in the manufacturing facility, and even as team members travel across cities worldwide, the latest AI PCs handle complex workflows and help engineers and strategists analyze massive data and make swift decisions.
Alienware gaming systems support McLaren's esports and simulation racing programs. Drivers and engineers can test scenarios and refine strategies in a digital environment that closely mirrors reality, powered by a high-performance platform.
Zak Brown, McLaren Racing CEO, said, "Our partnership with Dell Technologies is built on our shared values of innovation and performance," adding, "Dell's technology underpins our team operations end to end, from car design to race strategy."
Liz Matthews, senior vice president and global brand and creative lead at Dell Technologies, said, "The collaboration between Dell and McLaren offers a blueprint to customers worldwide by proving the competitive edge that comes from combining technology and human capability in extreme environments."
