Elon Musk, Tesla's chief executive officer, posted a hiring notice on social media seeking semiconductor talent in Korea.
On the 16th (local time), CEO Musk reposted a Tesla Korea job announcement by quoting it on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He added several Taegeukgi flag emojis to the post. In a comment, he wrote, "If you live in Korea and want to work in semiconductor design, manufacturing, or software, join Tesla."
Earlier, Tesla Korea issued an "artificial intelligence (AI) chip design engineer hiring notice." The announcement said it is "looking for talent to join the development of world-class, mass-produced AI chips." Tesla Korea plans to evaluate applicants based on "the three most difficult technical problems they have solved" and hire accordingly. The notice was also shared through the "Tesla AI" account.
At Tesla's earnings announcement on the 28th of last month, CEO Musk said, "We need to build a Tesla Tera Fab (production facility) to remove likely constraints over the next 3 to 4 years," adding, "This is a U.S.-based production facility that includes very large-scale logic, memory, and packaging." Production by major suppliers such as TSMC and Samsung Electronics alone will not be sufficient to meet supply. The market interprets this as Tesla seeking not only semiconductor design but also direct manufacturing, prompting it to secure talent in Korea.
