Netmarble said on the 13th it released the first episode of a "Director's commentary" ahead of the official launch in Asia of its new action-adventure role-playing game (RPG) "Game of Thrones: King's Road" (developer Netmarble Neo).
Through the released video, users can see tactile action that emphasizes the importance of controls and realistically rendered boss battles. The combat system neutralizes enemy attacks with dodges and guards and counters with parries, and features strategic elements such as swapping between two weapons in real time to continue the fight.
It also showcases multiplayer content such as four-player dungeons, cooperative battles and raids against Daenerys' dragon "Drogon," which appears as a field boss, along with the "Game of Thrones" universe realized as an open-world action RPG. Major characters from the original work, including "Jon Snow," "Ramsay Bolton," and "Cersei," also appear.
The game consists of various elements that faithfully reflect the original. The classes are three types: "Mercenary," inspired by "Wildling Tormund" and "the Mountain Clegane"; "Knight," based on "the Kingsguard" and "knights of Westeros"; and "Assassin," modeled after "the Faceless Men."
Alongside this, fully voiced recordings and cinematic direction have been applied to major quests, and detailed story development enhances immersion. Key locations from the original, such as "Castle Black," "Winterfell," and "King's Landing," are realized as an open world, meticulously recreating "the continent of Westeros," the background of the drama.
"Game of Thrones: King's Road" is an open-world action RPG in development, set against season 4 of the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning HBO drama "Game of Thrones." Netmarble is producing the title under an official license from HBO under Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and plans to deliver immersion by implementing the original universe and characters with high quality.
