SK Telecom said it will run a "digital safety campaign" at Incheon International Airport for three days starting on the 12th for customers heading overseas for the Lunar New Year holiday.
SK Telecom will offer a "smartphone checkup" for customers preparing to depart who want to apply for roaming service from the roaming centers at Incheon International Airport's Terminals 1 and 2 from the 12th to the 14th.
SK Telecom plans to guide customers who want a security check on how to block spam numbers and how to find unverified apps. Customers of other carriers as well as SK Telecom customers can inquire.
The campaign is being carried out with a focus on prioritizing security for older customers who are less familiar with smartphones. The company plans to actively inform and support methods such as smartphone security settings and app installation that customers may not know well.
For example, it will guide users on functions that identify unverified apps in advance to block installation, and functions that prevent changes to account and device information if a phone is lost during travel. With the customer's consent, staff will also help set up the features directly.
In addition, SK Telecom will guide and support installation of its "adot phone" app. The company said that if "adot phone" is set as the default calling app, it analyzes conversations in real time during calls and immediately alerts the user if a call is suspected to be voice phishing. The "AI security" menu in adot phone brings together key security features such as AI voice phishing detection and safe blocking in one place, according to the company.
SK Telecom also plans to continue the safety campaign for customers attending the SK Knights basketball tournament during the long Lunar New Year holiday. On the 15th, it will set up a separate "T Safety Defense Zone" booth in front of the Jamsil arena where the SK Knights basketball tournament will be held, to provide information on safety services.
Lee Hye-yeon, SKT's head of customer value innovation, said, "We plan to help customers enjoy a safe communications experience during the Lunar New Year holiday," adding, "We will continue to evolve into a trusted SK Telecom by protecting customers from digital threats they may face in everyday life."
