Hong Bum-Shik, president of LG Uplus, will take the stage for an official keynote at MWC26, the world's largest mobile communications exhibition, which opens in Barcelona, Spain, on Mar. 2 local time.
It is the first time that LG Group executives will serve as official keynote speakers at MWC. The event will also feature global telecom and tech corporations leaders as speakers, including John Stankey, CEO of AT&T, Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, and Justin Hottard, CEO of Nokia. Under the theme "Humanizing Every Connection," Hong will herald the full-fledged start of the AI call agent era and introduce how LG Uplus's On-device AI call agent "ixi-O" has changed the voice call experience.
LG Uplus has advanced features such as call recording and summaries, real-time voice phishing detection, and AI-modified voice detection through ixi-O, and recently unveiled a Generative AI–based search function during calls in collaboration with Google. The company plans to use this keynote as a starting point to target the global AI application services market. At the keynote, it will screen a video showcasing family bonds and values through voice calls, underscoring its brand philosophy of "putting people into connection."
Before the opening, Hong will also attend a dinner hosted by King Felipe VI of Spain. The dinner is an official event organized by the GSMA inviting keynote CEOs, and Hong plans to promote the competitiveness of Korea's AI technology through exchanges with leaders of the global telecommunications industry.
The speech will take place around 11:30 a.m. on Mar. 2 local time (around 7:30 p.m. on Mar. 2 Korea time) and will be broadcast live on GSMA's MWC26 YouTube channel.
