NHN held a press briefing to unveil the collection RPG "Abyssdia," slated for release in Feb., and on the 11th introduced its service strategy centered on character-driven storytelling and a real-time combat system.
At the briefing held on the 10th at NHN's Pangyo headquarters in Gyeonggi Province, Ring Games PD Kim Won-ju and NHN Head of Game Business Jeong Jung-jae attended to explain the game's content and service direction. On site, the company presented key systems and held a Q&A and live demo.
Abyssdia unfolds around a narrative in which the world faces collapse due to the dimensional rupture "Abyss Slit," and the protagonist "Conductor," who has the power to harmonize the world, joins with bishoujo characters to purify the chaos. Each character has a unique affiliation, purpose, and individual story, and the structure expands the universe based on these elements.
At launch, a total of 20 "Vanguard" characters will be revealed. The company said it enhanced narrative immersion by applying character-specific OSTs, promotional videos, and voice acting.
Combat is designed as a four-person co-op-based tag action system. Players can swap characters during battle to leverage continuous elemental chains. The "Harmonic Strike," which triggers when chaining the four characters' skills in sequence, was presented as a core combat element.
Content offerings were diversified to match user preferences. The company strengthened growth and achievement elements through the boss raid-based competitive content "Abyss Invader" and the challenge mode "Infinity Abyss." It also prepared a meal date feature, "Let's Eat Together," which emphasizes building bonds with characters.
NHN Head of Game Business Jeong Jung-jae said, "Abyssdia is designed so that each character has an independent narrative, allowing users to directly experience stories within a universe that expands around them," adding, "We plan to operate a long-term service that continually expands the universe and is built together with users."
