LG Electronics has been holding back-to-back events to unveil its artificial intelligence (AI) home and locally tailored new products for key local transaction partners in the Global South, a region with high growth potential.
LG Electronics said on the 8th that it hosted the first LG InnoFest of the year over two days on the 4th (local time) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), inviting key transaction partners from the Middle East and Africa. LG InnoFest is LG Electronics' signature, locally focused event. It serves to strengthen cooperation with key transaction partners by announcing new products and sharing the direction of local business strategies, and carries the meaning of a place for "innovation" and "festival."
Last year, LG Electronics held the LG InnoFest Air event in Korea, focusing on HVAC products, but this is the first comprehensive overseas showcase of major product lines—from home appliances and air conditioners to TVs—in seven years since 2019. The aim is to accelerate growth and expand business opportunities in the Global South by leveraging AI home solutions and localization strategies across LG Electronics' diverse product lines. Starting with Abu Dhabi this year, LG Electronics plans to hold LG InnoFest Air events in Latin America and Asia as well.
About 250 people, including key transaction partners from 43 countries in the Middle East and Africa and foreign correspondents, attended the event. LG Electronics set up a new product exhibition zone and an LG AI Home space to showcase not only practical business opportunities but also AI home experiences that customers can realize in their daily lives.
First, in the LG AI Home, customers experienced an integrated AI home solution in which appliances and Internet of Things (IoT) devices operate as a single, complete solution across various spaces such as the living room, kitchen, bedroom, dressing room and dining area, using the AI home hub ThinQ on and the LG ThinQ app. The AI home solution keeps appliances and IoT devices connected 24 hours a day; when customers converse in everyday language, the AI understands context and space to control a range of linked products and even connect services.
LG Electronics presented tailored solutions by implementing a range of convenient features, including air quality management suited to local environments with abundant sand and dust, a home security system for customers sensitive to security, and energy savings, which are drawing growing interest in the Middle East.
LG Electronics will also strengthen its LG AI Home-based business-to-business (B2B) operations targeting new dwellings in the Middle East and Africa. In particular, it plans to focus on customer groups with high demand for integrated solutions, such as construction companies, hotels, interior design firms and smart home companies.
In the new product exhibition zone, the company is expanding its large-capacity lineup of laundry appliances—including washing machines, dryers, WashCombo and WashTower—reflecting the characteristics of large-family cultures. It also highlighted AI DD motor technology, which analyzes the weight, soil level and fabric of laundry to provide optimized, tailored washing and drying. The company also showcased refrigerators equipped with the AI cool-care system, which learns and analyzes usage patterns and maintains uniform cooling.
Jung Pil-won, executive vice president and head of the Middle East and Africa region at LG Electronics, said, "We will continue to grow by solidifying cooperation with our partners through AI home solutions that add AI to the core competitiveness of our products and through customized products that reflect the lifestyles of local customers."
