HANCOM said on the 6th that it will launch a companywide, project-based learning organization, the "AI-dea Crew," to strengthen employees' voluntary ability to use AI.
The AI-dea Crew is an internal learning program designed to help people internalize the usefulness of AI by directly applying it to work and daily life, and it is part of HANCOM's ongoing strategy to embed AI. The project will run for three months starting in March, and participation is open by teams of up to three people as well as solo crew members.
The core of this program is "the process over the result." HANCOM does not demand highly polished outcomes, and if participants share the process of defining problems and attempting improvements using AI tools, the project is recognized as completed. Failure is also treated as part of learning, enabling members to try using AI without pressure.
Topic selection is also broadly open. People can freely propose ideas ranging from improving work efficiency to solving inconveniences in daily life with AI. However, work-related topics are limited to tasks within the participant's own organization to verify practical potential for improvement. The company also encourages cross-department crew formations to promote in-house collaboration and broaden perspectives.
HANCOM also strengthened support so participants can focus on learning. Each crew member will receive up to 300,000 won in activity funds to use for taking AI courses or subscribing to paid tools, and the company will support team dinners and a networking party after the project ends. Outstanding crews will receive awards following a separate review.
The evaluation method adopts a horizontal structure. Instead of specific executives or experts, all employees take part in judging and select exemplary cases through a sympathy vote. Rather than development completeness, the freshness of problem recognition and the creativity of AI-utilization approaches are key evaluation criteria, so non-developer roles can compete sufficiently.
HANCOM CEO Kim Yeon-su said, "The AI-dea Crew is not a program to force work performance, but an attempt to help members naturally learn, enjoy, and grow with AI," adding, "We hope that through voluntary experiments and sharing, HANCOM's own culture of using AI will become embedded across the organization."
