Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong reportedly attended an official event for the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics and met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and others.
According to the business community on the 6th, Lee resumed sports diplomacy after two years by attending a dinner hosted by International Olympic Committee (IOC) Chairperson Kirsty Coventry in Milan, Italy, on the 5th local time. The previous day, Lee headed to Milan, Italy, via the Seoul Gimpo Business Aviation Center (SGBAC). During the trip, Lee plans to watch the Winter Olympics and meet figures from global politics and sports, as well as key business partners.
Lee will attend the Olympics for the first time in two years after visiting Paris, France, during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Samsung Electronics is the only Korean company among the 15 top-tier sponsors of the IOC. The company signed a TOP contract with the IOC in 1997 and has served as the official sponsor in wireless communications since the "1998 Nagano Winter Olympics."
At this Winter Olympics, Samsung Electronics opened "Samsung House" at Milan's Palazzo Serbelloni to showcase Samsung's Olympic partnership journey and the history of technological innovation alongside the Olympics. During the 2024 Paris Olympics, it also delivered Galaxy Z Flip6 devices to participating athletes and implemented the Victory Selfie, in which medal recipients took selfies with the Galaxy Z Flip6 after receiving their medals.
