Samsung Electronics will showcase mobile innovation at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, bringing athletes, fans, and the community closer together.
On the 4th, Samsung Electronics said it will showcase mobile innovation throughout the event, including a live broadcast of the opening ceremony using the Galaxy S25 Ultra, real-time interpretation and communication support powered by Galaxy AI, the establishment of a competition review environment using Samsung Electronics monitors, operation of Galaxy charging stations, and operation of Samsung House, a communication space for athletes, key figures, and partners. Samsung Electronics is an official partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Samsung Electronics, in partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), will film the opening ceremony of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which will be broadcast live to viewers around the world.
The opening ceremony will take place on Feb. 6 at San Siro stadium in Milan with more than 3,500 athletes from about 90 countries and over 75,000 spectators. The Galaxy S25 Ultra will be installed throughout the venue, including in the stands, the athletes' entrance tunnel, and broadcast equipment, or will be used directly by marching athletes or on-site cameramen.
Yiannis Exarchos, CEO of Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), said, "The Olympics is a stage where athletes show their best and a festival that brings athletes and spectators around the world together as one, and the opening ceremony is the moment that symbolically captures the Olympic spirit," adding, "Through collaboration with Samsung, we have been able to capture dynamic images not seen in traditional broadcasts, and we will be able to deliver the energy and emotion of the opening ceremony even more closely to global viewers."
Samsung Electronics will support overall operations on-site throughout the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. About 850 volunteers will be provided with the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, which feature the Galaxy AI-based "Interpreter," to support communication in 22 languages among athletes, officials, and visitors. Using On-device AI, the interpretation function works quickly and intuitively without a network connection, which the company said is expected to significantly contribute to operating the Games, many of which take place in mountainous areas.
Andrea Varnier, CEO of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said, "As we prepare for the most geographically expansive Winter Olympics ever, Samsung's innovation organically connects regions and substantively supports overall operations, ensuring that people remain at the center of the Games even in a digital environment."
Samsung Electronics also noted that many spectators enjoy the entire Olympic journey on smartphones, from searching for competition information to filming and sharing on site, and will install and operate Galaxy charging stations throughout the venues so spectators can enjoy the festival without worrying about batteries. For short track, Samsung Electronics will provide monitors so referees can conduct real-time video reviews, helping them make more accurate and consistent decisions at crucial moments in competition.
In addition, during the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics and Paralympics, Samsung Electronics will operate Samsung House at Palazzo Serbelloni, a historic building in Milan. Palazzo Serbelloni is a place that has preserved the city's historic moments, known as a site visited by Napoleon during his stay in Milan. Against this symbolic backdrop, Samsung House will be designed under the concept of "consolidation," introducing Samsung's Olympic partnership journey and its story of technological innovation alongside the Olympics.
Samsung House will be operated for invited athletes, key figures, and partners, and is organized as a communication space where they can meet, interact, and build relationships. The main programs will showcase 30 years of Olympic technology collaboration, past Olympic editions and torches, and the "Victory Profile" of athletes competing at the Milan Winter Olympics; offer live viewing of competitions; and host events with National Olympic Committees (NOC), among other attractions. Victory Profile is athlete profile content shot with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It captures athletes' journeys and passion toward the Olympics and Paralympics. Through cooperation at the National Olympic Committee (NOC) level, about 490 athletes from a total of nine countries participated.
Enrico Bartolini, a chef with three stars from the Michelin Guide in Italy, will present catering that reinterprets Italian sensibilities, offering local culture and a warm atmosphere.
Samsung House officially opens on Feb. 4 and operates until the closing day of the Games on the 22nd, and will reopen from March 6 to 15 during the Paralympics.
Choi Seung-eun, vice president and head of the Mobile Marketing Center of the MX Division at Samsung Electronics, said, "Samsung Electronics seeks to share every Olympic moment with more people and open a people-centered Olympics," adding, "As the way people experience the Games evolves, mobile technology will bring athletes, fans, and the community closer together and play an important role in conveying the immediacy and emotion of competition so people can empathize with and enjoy it."
