SK Telecom said it has partnered with Hana Card to run a promotion for customers using the T Roaming "baro plan" and the "TravelGO debit card" from the 3rd through Mar. 31.
Customers who sign up for the baro plan and make overseas purchases of at least 100,000 won with the TravelGO debit card will receive 20,000 Hana Money once per person at the end of the following month.
The TravelGO debit card is a travel-focused debit card partnered with Visa that enables 24-hour real-time currency exchange and overseas payments via a mobile app. Participating customers must apply through the event banner on the T World or Hana Pay app, and from the moment they press the "T Roaming mission" button on the event page while using the baro plan overseas, their spending performance will be counted.
SK Telecom said it is targeting travel demand that includes the Lunar New Year holiday. Family travelers can use "family roaming," which allows up to five people to share data, by adding 3,000 won to the baro plan. SK Telecom said that if a family of four uses "baro 6GB (39,000 won)" with family roaming and also receives 20,000 Hana Money, the perceived expense per person falls to as low as 5,500 won. More than 1.5 million people used family roaming last year, and cumulative users have surpassed 3.6 million.
Additional perks have also been strengthened. SK Telecom has extended through Mar. 31 its offer of either a 20% discount on T in-flight Wi-Fi or free service, provided up to two times depending on the plan. Through the T Membership app "Club T Roaming," it offers airport/local discounts and a coupon after returning to Korea (each worth 5,000 won, choose one). Yoon Jae-ung, head of SKT's Product & Brand Unit, said, "We will provide benefits in both communications and payments."
