LG Uplus said on the 3rd that it will join the Korean National Police Agency's "VOICE WANTED" campaign. VOICE WANTED is a nationwide tip-off campaign in which the Korean National Police Agency collects the voices of voice phishing offenders, identifies criminals through voiceprint analysis, and uses the data to prevent damage. People who wish to submit tips can record suspected voice phishing calls and report them on the website of the Korean National Police Agency's Integrated Response Team for Telecommunications-based Financial Fraud (voice phishing).
LG Uplus said it joined the campaign out of sympathy with its purpose and to actively promote voice phishing crime prevention in customers' daily lives. Customers can check detailed information about the campaign and how to submit tips through the Plus menu in LG Uplus's official app U+one. In addition, customers using LG Uplus's AI free currency app "ixi-O" can participate in the campaign more conveniently, as call contents are automatically recorded without setting a separate recording function.
The voice data of voice phishing offenders collected through this campaign will be used by the Korean National Police Agency's Integrated Response Team for Telecommunications-based Financial Fraud to analyze voice phishing crime patterns and advance investigations, and it is expected to make a practical contribution to building prevention and response systems for voice phishing crimes in the future.
Along with campaign guidance, LG Uplus will run the "Got the voice" event to encourage participation. Customers who submit tips will be entered into a drawing to receive various prizes, including Bose QC headphones, a Lexon light lamp, a white porcelain moon jar potpourri, and 1,000-won Naver Pay vouchers.
Starting with this campaign, LG Uplus and the Korean National Police Agency plan to establish a joint response system, including technical collaboration for voice phishing crime prevention and sharing the voices and data of suspected voice phishing offenders collected through the AI free currency app "ixi-O."
Kim Wone-kee, head of the LG Uplus Digital CX Tribe, said, "It is meaningful to join a campaign to prevent the serious crime of 'voice phishing,' which threatens not only financial assets but also people's daily lives and trust," adding, "We will continue to work to deliver differentiated customer value that only LG Uplus can provide through close collaboration with the Korean National Police Agency."
