IT services corporations ITCEN ENTEC said on the 2nd that it will begin joint research with Yonsei University's AI Innovation Institute to develop a Digital Twin and artificial intelligence (AI)-based social analysis and forecasting system.
ITCEN ENTEC signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Yonsei University's AI Innovation Institute for "joint research on analyzing and forecasting social phenomena using Digital Twin and AI technologies." The agreement was pursued to scientifically verify the impact of policy changes and social issues across social and organizational systems and to build a data-driven, empirical decision-making framework.
The two institutions plan to jointly design an AI-based analysis framework that uses Digital Twin technology to implement complex social, organizational and policy environments in a virtual space and to simulate in advance the outcomes that may occur when policy changes or social shifts arise. The aim is to create an advanced forecasting system that compares and verifies results across various scenarios.
In addition, they will conduct parallel research that uses unstructured data generated from news, social networking services (SNS) and online platforms to quantitatively analyze public opinion and discourse structures and to track and model issue diffusion paths. The study is expected to structurally identify the flow of public sentiment and the process of agenda formation and to be used to forecast future directions of change.
In this collaboration, ITCEN ENTEC will provide large-scale data processing technology and a stable system infrastructure based on its experience building and operating national core information systems in the public, defense and financial sectors. It will offer technical support to ensure that AI- and Digital Twin-based analyses can be carried out smoothly across diverse data environments.
Yonsei University's AI Innovation Institute will apply explainable AI (XAI) techniques to enhance the reliability of analysis results, including the development of predictive modeling and simulation algorithms. By doing so, it will focus its research capabilities so that the analysis results can be consolidated into insights that are practically applicable to policymaking and research settings.
An ITCEN ENTEC official said, "This collaboration is meaningful in that it builds a forecasting system that proactively verifies future impacts with data, moving beyond interpreting social phenomena after the fact," and added, "We will strengthen our AI- and data-centered high value-added technology service capabilities to contribute to realizing an intelligent information society."
A Yonsei University AI Innovation Institute official said, "By combining the technological capabilities of industry sites with the research capabilities of the university, this will become a new cooperation model that analyzes and forecasts policies and social phenomena based on data," and added, "Through research that considers both public interest and academic value, we will produce outcomes that provide practical help to social decision-making."
