The CAIO (chief AI officer) who led KT's artificial intelligence (AI) projects is moving to NC AI, NCSOFT's AI corporations.
According to the AI industry on the 30th, former KT Generative AI Lab head and CAIO Shin Dong-hoon left KT this month and will start at NC AI in Feb. He is said to be appointed head of the newly established AX Center within NC AI.
Shin, a former principal researcher at LG Electronics, joined NCSOFT in 2017 and led large language model (LLM) development, then moved to KT in 2024 to lead KT's LLM development. He is effectively returning to NCSOFT after about 1 year and 7 months.
Meanwhile, NC AI, which fell short in the first-round evaluation of the government's independent AI foundation model project, is actively recruiting talent to focus on developing industry-specific AI and physical AI technologies.
