Samsung Electronics said on the 30th that Samsung Health, offered on the Galaxy Watch 8 series and others, was registered as No. 1 under the Ministery of Food and Drug Safety's "digital medical and health support device."
The Ministery of Food and Drug Safety, under the Digital Medical Products Act that took effect in January last year, introduced a self-reporting and performance certification system for digital health products and registered Samsung Health as the first case to institutionalize AI-based digital health products.
Samsung Health tracks a variety of health metrics such as heart rate, blood oxygen, and step count and provides AI-based personalized insights, enabling systematic health management when linked with Galaxy wearable devices. Users can measure heart rate and blood oxygen and check for abnormal signs in real time.
Choi Jong-min, a senior vice president on the Digital Health Team in the MX Business Division at Samsung Electronics, said, "Through wearable devices that are establishing themselves as essential tools for health management, Samsung Electronics will continue to drive innovation for preventive health care."
