Cybersecurity corporations Genians said on the 29th that it officially released the inter-household network segmentation security solution for home networks, "Genian Home."
Genian Home provides an inter-household network segmentation security solution based on a virtual private network (VPN) and a virtual local area network (VLAN). It logically separates each household's network within an apartment complex to minimize unnecessary traffic, and it controls direct communication between devices and access by unauthorized devices to raise the overall security level of the home network.
It can be deployed without changing the existing infrastructure and can be applied not only to newly built complexes but also to existing ones. The company noted that it is configured to selectively apply VPN- and VLAN-based technologies depending on the characteristics of the complex and the operating environment.
The VPN in Genian Home applies encrypted communication for each household and access control policies between households. It strengthens security by controlling unnecessary communications other than essential home network services and blocking direct communication between households and access by unauthorized devices. It improves management efficiency by providing a dashboard-based monitoring function that allows users to see equipment status and device connection status at a glance.
In the case of VLAN, it combines network access control technology in an independent VLAN environment for each household. It fundamentally blocks inter-household communications except for essential home network services and controls network access by unauthorized devices. Security policies can be designed around the essential services required to operate the home network.
It also eliminates the burden of large-scale equipment replacement or additional work for each household through a centralized management structure. It supports administrators in quickly detecting and responding to anomalies by providing a dashboard-based management function that allows them to intuitively check device status and conditions.
Lee Dong-beom of Genians said, "Home network security in multiunit housing is an important area directly tied to resident safety beyond simple convenience functions," adding, "Based on the network access control technology and security operations experience that Genians has accumulated over many years, we sought to present practical alternatives that can be applied in the field."
