Google has expanded the rollout of its low-priced plan for its artificial intelligence (AI) subscription service, Google AI Plus, to about 70 countries, including Korea and the United States. The monthly subscription fee is $7.99 (about 11,450 won) in the United States and 11,000 won per month in Korea.

Google said on the 27th (local time) that it is adding the AI Plus plan in 35 additional countries and regions, including the United States.

The AI Plus plan first launched last September in emerging markets—more than 40 countries including Indonesia, India, Mexico, Egypt, and Vietnam. The plan includes Google's state-of-the-art AI model Gemini 3 Pro; the image generation and editing feature Nanobanana Pro; Flow's AI film production tool; and NotebookLM's research and writing support features. The key feature is that users can access more core AI functions than free users, though fewer than with the existing AI Pro plan.

AI credits, the resource for using AI, are 100 points per month for free users, and the newly introduced AI Plus plan grants 200 points per month. The AI Pro plan offers 1,000 points per month.

Cloud storage available to AI Plus subscribers is 200GB (gigabytes), about one-tenth of the AI Pro plan's 2TB (terabytes).

Google set the U.S. price for the AI Plus plan at $7.99 per month, about 40% of the AI Pro plan's $19.99 (about 28,660 won).

In Korea, the existing AI Pro plan is 29,000 won per month, and the newly launched AI Plus plan is 11,000 won.

For new domestic subscribers, Google is offering the AI Plus plan at a 50% discounted subscription fee of 5,500 won for the first two months. Existing Google One Premium 2TB subscribers will automatically receive all benefits of Google AI Plus within the next few days without a separate application.

Vikas Kansal, group product manager for Google AI subscriptions, said, "The goal of this plan launch is to help users leverage powerful AI models and tools that can further boost productivity and creativity at a more reasonable price."

Previously, competitor OpenAI also expanded the rollout of its low-priced plan ChatGPT Go—initially available in only some countries—to worldwide on the 16th. OpenAI said it will introduce ads to ChatGPT free and low-priced plan account users in the United States.

OpenAI set the monthly subscription fee for ChatGPT Go at 15,000 won in Korea, and it faced criticism for being more than 20% higher than the U.S. fee of $8 (about 11,800 won), even considering the high exchange rate.
