LG Display spent more than 90 billion won in the fourth quarter last year as an expenditure for workforce structure efficiency.
LG Display stated accordingly on the 28th through its 2025 fourth-quarter and annual earnings conference call. LG Display said fourth-quarter operating profit last year came to 168.5 billion won, noting, "In addition to the impact of a quarter-over-quarter decline in shipments of some models in the small and midsize organic light-emitting diode (OLED) product lineup, one-off expense factors aimed at strengthening the company's revenue structure and future competitiveness were reflected."
It added, "The expense related to voluntary retirements for domestic and overseas employees as part of workforce structure efficiency was more than 90 billion won," and "Performance incentives intended to motivate employees in recognition of the turnaround in annual results for the first time in four years and to strengthen future competitiveness were also reflected in the results." It continued, "To further reinforce the company's revenue structure and maximize operational efficiency, expenses incurred during the adjustment of our business and product portfolio—such as scaling back low-revenue products and normalizing inventories—were also included in the fourth-quarter results."
LG Display, however, said that excluding these one-off expenses, its profitability structure has been steadily improving. The company said, "Operating results excluding the one-off expense factors that occurred in the fourth quarter last year expanded compared with the previous quarter and the same period a year earlier," adding, "Our business fundamentals and revenue structure are continuously strengthening."
LG Display disclosed that its full-year revenue last year was 25.8101 trillion won, down 3% from a year earlier. While revenue declined slightly, full-year operating profit reached 517 billion won, returning to the black. Last year's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was 4.8711 trillion won, with a margin of 19%. Fourth-quarter revenue last year was 7.2008 trillion won, down 8% from a year earlier.
