LG Uplus said on the 25th that cumulative subscribers to its integrated budget phone platform "Al." surpassed 500,000.
LG Uplus in May 2024 launched the Al.Care service for small and midsize budget phone operators that face a heavy expense burden to build and run customer centers, and for customers who experience inconvenience using budget phones because there is no customer center. Al. is an online platform that compares about 900 plans from 25 partner firms that run budget phone services on the LG Uplus network and enables remote self-activation.
The company said the number of people using the Al. platform also rose 266% year over year as of December 2025.
LG Uplus carried out a large-scale overhaul in November last year in line with the increase in users. Since the overhaul, Al. offers services such as checking plan usage and discount periods and paying bills through Al.Care; self-activation and top-ups for prepaid plan USIM and eSIM; subscribing to, checking and changing add-on services; and requesting consultations for bundled internet and IPTV.
LG Uplus also plans to launch an application (app) in the second half of this year so customers can use it easily and quickly anywhere.
LG Uplus also plans to roll out various services for budget phone users. First, on the 29th, it will introduce the "integrated coupon box" service. With this service, customers can manage and use in one place the coupons they previously received via text message. The company expected that customers will be able to use budget phone services more conveniently because they can check their coupon usage history and coupons scheduled to be issued later.
Park Dae-yong, head of the MVNO business at LG Uplus, said, "We will continue to provide a variety of services that meet customers' needs to help them use budget phones more conveniently."
