Naver Webtoon said on the 27th that the popular webtoon "Viral Hit" has been produced as a Netflix Japan series and will be released worldwide exclusively on May 28.
"Viral Hit" is an original webtoon serialized by popular Naver Webtoon creators Park Tae-joon and Kim Jeong-hyeon working together. It tells the story of Yoo Ho-bin, a victim of school violence, who begins a broadcast to punish the perpetrator by chance and builds up fighting skills. Its global cumulative views total 2.28 billion.
"Viral Hit," serialized since 2020 through Naver Webtoon's Japanese-language service "Line Manga," has surpassed 500 million cumulative views in Japan. It was selected as a "Jury Selection" in the manga category at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival, and in 2024 it was produced as a TV animation, building a solid fandom.
"Viral Hit," being produced as a Netflix series, is directed by Takeuchi Hideki with writing by Tokunaga Yuichi, and features Japanese powerhouse actors including Suzuka Oji, Mikami Ai and Sugo Araki.
Meanwhile, Line Digital Frontier, which operates "Line Manga," has successfully established Korean webtoons in the Japanese manga market and supports the growth of works through various intellectual property (IP) businesses, including screen adaptations. Line Digital Frontier is currently developing a total of 20 anime projects based on webtoon originals, including "Mercenary Enrollment" and "Eleceed."
