Hancom Innostream said on the 26th that it successfully completed the buildout of a generative artificial intelligence (AI)-based Boiler Intelligent Management System (BIMS) to boost maintenance efficiency for power plant boilers at KEPCO KPS.
In this project, Hancom Innostream participated as the prime contractor and handled the entire process from system planning and design to implementing AI technologies. The two companies standardized vast power plant maintenance data and combined generative AI with intelligent analytics, focusing on creating a smart management environment where on-site workers can make immediate decisions.
BIMS applies Text to SQL technology, which automatically converts user questions asked in natural language into database query language. Through this, on-site personnel can ask questions as if chatting, without complex search conditions, and check maintenance histories and equipment status in visualized results.
AI was also introduced for evaluating metal materials, a task that had relied on visual inspection and experience. The AI model built into the system automatically determines the degradation state based on analyses of metal surfaces such as boiler tubes and supports predicting remaining equipment life and identifying optimal maintenance timing.
In addition, by applying Hancom Innostream's intelligent reporting technology, the entire process from technical consultation and damage analysis report drafting to approval and external release was automated. Standardized templates and co-authoring features reduce administrative burdens and create an environment where maintenance data is naturally accumulated as an asset. A drawing-based equipment information management function was also applied to allow intuitive identification of conditions by power plant and by part.
