ITCEN ENTEC said on the 26th it has begun work on building Busan's smart aquaculture big data center, moving to lead an artificial intelligence transition (AX) in the fisheries sector.
ITCEN ENTEC, the IT service specialist of the ITCEN group, was selected as the lead company of the consortium for the "smart aquaculture big data center construction" service project and signed a contract. The project applies advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to the aquaculture sector, is worth about 10 billion won, and will run for 18 months from the contract date.
ITCEN ENTEC will drive the digital transition of the aquaculture industry by establishing the nation's first AI big data center for aquaculture, combining smart aquaculture with data-driven technologies. In particular, it plans to focus its technological capabilities so that Busan can lead a data-driven, future-oriented aquaculture industry.
Key tasks include building a cloud-based smart aquaculture AI big data center and establishing a standardized big data management system for each species. In addition, it will build the nation's largest smart aquaculture big data-linked portal and accelerate the aquaculture industry's overall digital transition through customized industrialization services.
Starting with six smart aquaculture clusters being promoted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries nationwide, it will collect data from research institutes and fish farms to create a Generative AI training environment, and the portal to be built will provide user-customized data and a data market-based transaction environment. It will also develop AI models and aquaculture models based on aquaculture data and build an integrated control system.
The new center is expected to boost productivity and quality in the aquaculture industry and lay the groundwork for creating new data-driven aquaculture businesses. By encouraging private investment and research and development, it is also expected to strengthen seafood export competitiveness and build a sustainable aquaculture ecosystem.
Leveraging experience accumulated through this project in managing large-scale industrial data and building datasets, ITCEN ENTEC also plans to expand ITCEN group's business based on Web3 and real-world assets (RWA). It is expected to provide the technological foundation to advance future-oriented business models that standardize and financialize the value of real-world assets such as seafood through data.
