An error in the spam classification system in Google Gmail caused inconvenience for users.
According to Google Workspace's official status dashboard on the 25th, the problem is believed to have occurred around 5 a.m. on the 24th Pacific Standard Time in the United States.
Users' inboxes were filled with messages categorized as Promotions, Social, and Updates, and emails from known senders showed spam warnings.
The defect in Gmail is now said to have been resolved, and Google said it plans to disclose the course of events through an internal investigation.
Google said, "The defect that occurred in Gmail has now been resolved," and added, "We plan to release a detailed analysis report on this incident as soon as we complete our internal investigation."
