Samsung Display said on the 21st that it is supplying three types of in-vehicle organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays for Zeekr's luxury flagship sport utility vehicle (SUV), the 9X.
Zeekr is the premium electric vehicle brand of Geely, the core finished-car unit of China's Geely Group.
After first supplying OLED panels for the Zeekr 009 model in 2024 and continuing their partnership, Samsung Display began full-scale supply of OLEDs for the 9X in the second half of last year.
Since Nov. last year, the 9X has ranked No. 1 in sales for two straight months in China's large SUV segment priced around 500,000 yuan (about 100 million won).
For this vehicle, Samsung Display is supplying a total of three OLEDs: a 16-inch CID (center information display), a 16-inch PID (passenger information display), and a 17-inch RSE (rear seat entertainment).
The 16-inch CID and PID are arranged side by side from the driver's side to the passenger seat, and with OLED's signature slim bezels and true black, they look like a single panel. Depending on preference or need, each can also be used as an independent screen.
The 17-inch RSE mounted on the vehicle's ceiling features a world-first "wing-style sliding screen" jointly developed by Samsung Display and Zeekr. The wing-style sliding screen lets users adjust the screen position via rails installed on the left and right sides of the interior, and it can move up to 88 centimeters between the second and third rows.
Samsung Display said it addressed the issue of fixed RSE displays installed in three-row, six-seat SUVs being hard to see from the third row. It added that the display also offers a 17-inch large screen with OLED's inherently wide viewing angles, high contrast ratio, and true black.
Choi Yong-seok, executive director in charge of auto sales at Samsung Display, said, "Samsung Display's in-vehicle OLEDs deliver not only high brightness but also perfect true black picture quality, making them the optimal solution to complete a premium mobility experience."
Xu Yun, head of Zeekr's Automotive Research Institute, said, "Through Samsung Display's OLEDs, we were able to create a luxurious cinema space and interior befitting the 9X," and added, "The large screen optimized for a six-seat space will offer customers a special driving experience."
