Nate Communications said on the 21st that it will expand user accessibility by introducing a social login feature to its messenger service NateOn.
Through an update that began on the 14th, NateOn now lets users access the service immediately with only an existing social account, even if they are not Nate members and without creating a separate ID. The supported social login platforms are four in total: Kakao, Naver, Google and Apple.
NateOn said the update streamlines the process of signing up into the experience of "connecting." When logging in with a social account, users can start using NateOn immediately after minimal verification using the phone number or email registered to the account. It also boosted security reliability by applying OAuth, the standard authentication framework for each social platform. In addition, it provides a continuous experience with the same social account on both PC and mobile.
With the introduction of social login, NateOn aims to solidify its position as a "second messenger for work." NateOn offers essential workplace features such as large file transfer and management, message recall, "Team Room" specialized for group communication, and remote control.
Son Hyeong-seon, head of the NateOn division, said, "NateOn proactively addressed user security concerns by introducing two-factor authentication earlier, and with this social login rollout, we have further reduced inconvenience in the login process," and added, "We will strengthen the balance between security and convenience and build a messenger environment that more users can access with confidence."
