Naver will appoint three new C-level leaders to integrate Team Naver's capabilities and boost synergies. Naver said that, following Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kim Beom-jun and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Kim Hee-cheul, it will strengthen leadership in search and data, accountable management, and human resources to respond swiftly to the rapidly changing global environment, from AI agents to physical AI and web3.
To accelerate the application of AI agents across Team Naver's major services and to push the integration and advancement of its search and data technology platforms, Naver plans to appoint Search Platform institutional sector head Kim Gwang-hyeon as chief data and content officer (CDO). Kim, as CDO, plans to organically merge the user data and content accumulated across the company to deliver a differentiated AI agent experience across the Naver app and its major services, and to lead efforts to strengthen mid- to long-term service competitiveness.
Yu Bong-seok, head of the Policy/RM institutional sector, will serve as the new chief responsibility officer (CRO), overseeing companywide policies and the risk management framework in response to changes in the external environment. Based on stakeholder and user trust, Yu will also lead policy operations and the establishment of a stable service environment so the platform can achieve sustainable growth while fulfilling its social responsibilities. As the social impact of technologies such as AI grows, the intention is to place trust, safety, and responsibility at the forefront of management decision-making.
Hwang Sun-bae, head of the HR institutional sector, was appointed chief human resources officer (CHRO) and will oversee HR strategy and the organizational operating framework. In line with changes in the technological environment and ways of working, the plan is to establish mid- to long-term HR policies and strengthen organizational competitiveness in the AI era.
Under a C-level leadership-centered accountable management system, Naver plans to organically combine its business and technological capabilities in shopping, finance, cloud, and AI to further advance AI competitiveness around "Agent N," while also accelerating the discovery of new business models and the expansion of strategic global partnerships. The new leaders will be appointed on Feb. 1, with detailed organizational restructuring to proceed in phases. With this reorganization, Naver aims to speed up decision-making.
