Apple's iPhone regained the No. 1 spot on a quarterly basis in China, the world's largest smartphone market.
According to market research firm Counterpoint Research on the 20th, iPhone shipments in China in the fourth quarter of last year rose 28.0% from a year earlier. During the same period, its market share by shipments was 21.8%, ranking first. That was up 5.0 percentage points from 16.8% a year earlier.
It was the first time since the fourth quarter of 2023 that Apple ranked No. 1 on a quarterly basis in China's smartphone market. One out of every five phones sold in China was an iPhone.
Buoyed by strong fourth-quarter sales, Apple's market share in China last year rose from 15.4% to 16.7%. The gap with annual leader Huawei (16.9%) narrowed to 0.2 percentage points. They were followed by Vivo (16.4%), Xiaomi (15.7%), Oppo (15.5%) and Honor (13.4%).
