China drone corporations DJI said on the 20th that it is launching its first robot vacuum series, Romo (ROMO), and will roll it out in Korea. DJI has operated a consumer drone business since its founding in 2006.
The company said Romo is "a product designed based on precision sensing technology and mapping and navigation know-how applied to flagship drones," adding that it "combines high-performance sensors, smart algorithms, and powerful suction." The premium model, Romo P, features transparent panels on both the station and the robot body.
Romo comes with an advanced obstacle detection system. The company said AI-based recognition technology can detect and avoid objects ranging from a 2 mm-thick charging cable to a thin card. It said the design integrates multi-sensor data to enable stable driving even in low-light spaces such as under beds or sofas. It can also plan cleaning routes by applying technology accumulated in drone navigation.
It is equipped with four high-pressure water jets and a 16 mm-diameter drain. With maximum suction power of 25,000 Pa, it delivers an airflow of 20 liters per second. It has a built-in 164 mL water tank. The company said, "It can operate stably for up to 200 days without separate maintenance," and added, "We reduced the noise generated during dust collection by up to 80% through a three-stage noise reduction system."
To mark the Korea launch of the Romo series, DJI is running a limited promotion through Feb. 14. It is offering an immediate discount of up to 291,000 won. It is also giving away a cleaning accessory package worth 119,000 won.
