SK hynix said on the 19th that its latest LPDDR5X automotive DRAM has obtained certification for ASIL-D (Automotive Safety Integrity Level D), the highest safety grade under the international automotive functional safety standard ISO 26262.
ASIL-D is the highest level of functional safety grade applied to systems directly tied to human life.
Global functional safety certification body TUV SUD comprehensively evaluates everything from the development process to product design, verification, and quality management systems before awarding the certification.
With this certification, SK hynix said it has officially proven its technological competitiveness in the automotive memory market by meeting not only high performance but also safety and reliability at the same time.
The LPDDR5X automotive DRAM meets the requirements for high performance, low power, and high reliability simultaneously in next-generation automotive systems such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), autonomous driving, and in-vehicle infotainment. In a software-defined vehicle (SDV) environment, it also stably handles large volumes of data and minimizes the possibility of system errors.
As the share of electronic and electrical systems in vehicles has recently increased, competitiveness in automotive DRAM has emerged as hinging on securing functional safety beyond simple performance or defect rates.
Accordingly, SK hynix applied a design to this product that balances characteristics such as ▲ stable data reliability even in extreme environments ▲ fault notification and self-diagnosis and repair functions ▲ ultra-high bandwidth and low power.
SK hynix said, "By obtaining the functional safety certification most valued by global automaker customers when adopting products, we have secured meaningful competitiveness for expanding our automotive memory business and strengthening customer trust going forward."
