Kakao said on the 19th it will run an AI image generation promotion using the "ChatGPT for Kakao" service that lets users create their own "my own Jjordy" characters. When a user uploads a photo, AI analyzes the traits of the photo and recreates it as an original character image based on "Jjordy." Jjordy is a legion of characters that vary in many forms, expanding the universe of the popular NINIZ character Jordy, and has been well received since its debut in 2024.
Users who want to generate images can enter the service by tapping the "ChatGPT" button at the top of the Chat tab in the mobile KakaoTalk app, then tapping the menu at the top right and clicking the "make my own Jjordy" banner. Upload a photo (one per try) on the promotion page and press the "generate" button, and the image will be ready in a few minutes. A completion alert is also sent via a KakaoTalk Channel message.
The chance to create a Jjordy character image resets at 10 a.m. daily, allowing users to make new images every day and enjoy collecting a variety of Jjordy characters.
A Kakao official said, "We hope users can easily and enjoyably experience AI services by creating their own special characters through ChatGPT for Kakao," adding, "We plan to continue building usability that lets people encounter and try AI in various ways in everyday life."
"ChatGPT for Kakao" is an AI service introduced inside KakaoTalk last October through collaboration between Kakao and OpenAI.
