Hong Ra-hee, honorary director of the Leeum Museum of Art, will sell 15 million shares of Samsung Electronics.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 18th, the honorary director signed a trust contract for the disposal of 15 million shares of Samsung Electronics with Shinhan Bank on the 9th. Accordingly, she plans to dispose of the shares by June 30.
Based on the closing price on the contract date (139,000 won), the deal is worth 2.085 trillion won. Reflecting the recent closing price (148,900 won), it is worth 2.2335 trillion won. The purpose of the stock sale is specified as "for tax payments and loan repayment."
In business circles, there is an interpretation that the honorary director disposed of the shares to raise funds for the final partitioning inheritance tax installment due in April. The total inheritance tax that the Samsung owner family must pay is 12 trillion won, and the bereaved family has used the installment payment system, paying the tax over five years starting in Apr. 2021.
