Samsung Electronics is expanding its certified pre-owned (refurbished) phone business to Europe, following Korea and the United States. Samsung Electronics said on the 14th that it has expanded the countries covered by its Certified Re-Newed (CRN) program.
CRN provides "refurbished Galaxy" devices that have undergone inspection and reconditioning so consumers can more easily access flagship devices through refurbished phones.
Sales are starting in three countries: Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. Samsung Electronics began selling refurbished phones on Samsung.com in Mar. last year, then expanded to the United States to grow flagship sales. In Europe, it is presenting the Galaxy S25 series as the first target models, and the company said it will adjust volumes and lineups in line with market demand.
Refurbished devices undergo inspections and servicing by in-house experts, as well as precision cleaning, and must pass more than 100 quality tests. In the three European countries, to ensure consistent quality, the eligible pool will be limited to top-grade return units, and only genuine parts will be used to meet Samsung standards for appearance and performance, the company said. In the restoration process, personal data is deleted through initialization, and Samsung Electronics emphasized that "they are sold in a condition equivalent to new products." The components are provided the same as new products.
Warranty benefits apply at the same level as new Galaxy devices. Devices sold in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom will be assigned new International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers and receive the latest software updates to ensure security and long-term usability.
