Sales in Korea's mobile game market came to $2.8 billion (about 4 trillion won) in the second half of last year, down 1.1% from a year earlier.
According to market research firm Sensor Tower on the 8th, sales in Korea's mobile game market in the second half of last year totaled $2.8 billion, up 8.3% from the first half. Compared with the same period in 2024, sales fell 1.1%, but they rose 10.1% from the second half of 2023, leading some to say the market is showing signs of recovery in broader terms.
Domestic mobile game downloads totaled about 210 million, down 21% from a year earlier. While Android's share of downloads rose to 73% from 68%, iOS fell to 27%, highlighting a clear shift of new users toward the Android platform. Sensor Tower said, "Rather than a market contraction, this slowdown in inflows can be seen as a phase in which download volumes are adjusting in Korea, which has already entered a mature stage."
As of the second half of last year, Nexon ranked No. 1 in sales among domestic mobile game publishers (distribution companies). Sensor Tower said Nexon rose to the top of the sales rankings for the first time on the strength of "Mabinogi Mobile" in the first half and "Maple Idle" in the second half. Century Games followed at No. 2, NCSOFT at No. 3, and Netmarble at No. 4.
