Starting on the 12th of this month, Kakao will delete users who have not used KakaoTalk for three years and destroy the personal information related to those users.
On the 7th, Kakao said it revised its privacy policy to destroy personal information for accounts that have not accessed KakaoTalk and to delete those accounts.
Previously, Kakao kept the personal information of users who had not used KakaoTalk for one year in a separate storage, and if they did not log in for the following four years, the account was deleted and the personal information was also destroyed. With the privacy policy revision, the retention period for information of long-term inactive KakaoTalk users has been reduced from four years to three.
